Kyle and Sam Engagement Session

Want to hear a funny story?

Kyle emailed me on a Friday evening, inquiring about my availability and saying she found me via a Google search when she typed in a venue she was researching for her wedding date.

I read said email while I was taking a break to eat a bite during Heather and Jessee’s reception the following Saturday. Kyle sounded so sweet in the email, so before heading back into the party, I took a mental note to respond as soon as I got back home that evening.

Later, as I’m packing to leave the reception, a beautiful girl comes up to me, introduces herself as Kyle – and says she had emailed me the night before (at which point I think I stared at her in shock for a few seconds).

Turns our her fiance, Sam, was one of Jessee’s groomsmen, but they had no idea I was going to be the photographer.  Plus, she had also just met Shannon and Kyle  for the first time, the couple of the wedding she had seen the night before! In this moment, those of us who had been connected via a web search were all of sudden meeting face to face, without any orchestrating of that happening on our own.

I could have walked away thinking that our meeting seemed so bizarre and happenstance, but I knew that this was a gift from above.  I always pray that the right couples will find me, and I truly believe that every one I end up working with is a blessing and an answer to that prayer.

However, instead of the subtle cues God usually sends along with the amazing people I get to work with, in this case He decided to send Kyle and Sam attached with a large lighted sign above their heads saying “You were meant to meet them – and don’t say something stupid to scare them away!”  Okay, well maybe that second half was more of me talking than God. Nonetheless, I know I was destined to meet these two, and I’m so so grateful our paths were made to cross -and that I haven’t scared them away.

And now, since I’m going to save their proposal story for their wedding blog post (every great story needs it’s own page, right?!), I’ll leave you with these images of Kyle and Sam – a stunning and joyful couple who knows how to have fun and make each other laugh. My favorite type of people:)
