I met Alexis when she modeled at a styled shoot I photographed last year, and I loved her energy from the second I met her. Her bubbly personality is magnetic, enhancing the natural beauty with which she’s been blessed.
I remember her talking about Patrick during the shoot, saying how great he was and how she knew that someday they’d be married.
However, getting an email from her a little less than a year later asking if I would be her wedding photographer was still unexpected. The amazing type of unexpected that left me smiling from ear to ear. Patrick had proposed during a sunrise hot air balloon ride, where he’d also arranged to their family waiting to celebrate with them when they descended(!!), and now they were planning a beach wedding in Corolla, North Carolina.
Though the weather the day before their wedding was bleary, I drove down feeling nothing but sheer anticipation for their big day. After meeting Patrick and knowing that he, too, was just as kind and easy going as Alexis, I was certain the day was going to be amazing despite any clouds or rain.
And amazing it was. The bad weather stayed away, and blue clouds above the ocean proved to be the perfect backdrop for their heartfelt ceremony. Alexis and Patrick were relaxed and yet bubbling over with giddy joy the entire day, and their friends and family were so beautifully excited to be celebrating this moment with them.
One other little bonus of the day was getting to sneak the two lovebirds away for some shots at sunset along a beautiful natural reserve walk and bridge next to the historic Whalehead mansion – where the two were utterly adorable AND managed to exhibit their incredible Dirty Dancing moves along the bridge. All in all, it was the best.
